Faculty in our discipline possess a broad range of expertise in cancer research including genomics/proteomics, cell signaling and receptor biology, tumor immunology, DNA repair, RNA biology, metastasis and tumor microenvironment, radiology and radiation therapy, structural biology, drug discovery, chemoprevention, experimental therapeutics, and clinical trials.

Our faculty bring in nearly $50M in funding per year, from NIH institutes including NCI, NLM, NIA, NEI, NIGMS, NIEHS, NIDDK, NIAID, NIAMS, NICHD, NIDCR, NCCIH, from foundations including Avon Foundation, St. Baldrick’s Foundation, Barker Foundation, Edward P. Evans Foundation, Hyundai Hope on Wheels, Susan G. Komen Foundation, Albert & Bessie Mae Kronkosky Charitable Foundation, Morris Lichtenstein Foundation, Morrison Trust, Ovarian Cancer Research Fund, Wiliam and Ella Owens Medical Research Foundation, San Antonio Medical Foundation, Thrivewell Cancer Foundation, Max and Minnie Tomerlin Voelker Fund, Robert A. These experienced mentors guide the trainees to develop and execute a research project and aid them in the development of independent and productive careers in cancer research.
