Office of Academic Affairs
The Office for Academic Affairs provides support to faculty and students in the School of Nursing and is responsible for the undergraduate and graduate course schedules, maintaining student files, securing clinical placements for nursing students in clinical courses, assessment and evaluation of programs, and reporting and accreditation functions.
We serve as the primary contact for students throughout their studies seeking guidance for:
Adding or dropping courses.
Leaves of absence.
Schedule changes.
Clinical placement schedules.
Hospital/agency requirements for clinicals.
Reinstatement requests.
Grade concerns.
Applying to internships.
Issues with courses and faculty.
Clarification of academic policies.
Anything related to the academic experience.

About the Student Success Center
Student Success Center
The Student Success Center has useful tools and services to help students navigate successfully through nursing school. The Student Success Center also coordinates and hosts student events like New Student Orientation and the White Coat Ceremony. Our collection of services is designed to meet students’ academic, professional and extracurricular needs. Services include:

About the Hurd Auditorium
Hurd Auditorium
The HURD auditorium is a spacious, digitally connected auditorium utilized for large classes and special events. It is named after our generous benefactor, Nancy Smith Hurd, who established a President's Chair in Geriatric Nursing and Aging Studies. With large display screens all around, it makes every seat a front row experience. It is located on the first floor of the School of Nursing.

Fountain
Our indoor fountain offers students and faculty a serene atmosphere with peaceful water sounds that inspire positivity and encourage focus. Students often enjoy studying nearby. It is adjacent to our HURD auditorium on the first floor of the School of Nursing. It also makes for a beautiful photo backdrop for those attending special events in the School of Nursing.

The Student Lounge is an open concept kitchenette equipped with a sink, microwaves, tables and chairs, and vending machines with healthy options. Students also enjoy the convenience of lockers in this space to secure their belongings while they enjoy a meal or break time.

Our study areas are open concept with just a touch of privacy from the hanging dividers that also serve as a sound buffer for students collaborating in small groups. There are also open nooks equipped with built-in counters and electrical outlets to power laptops and devices. In addition, there are ceiling to floor glass panels on the walls that serve as dry marker boards.

In the School of Nursing, we recognize the health benefits of breastfeeding for infants and mothers. Our designated mother's room offers a quiet and cozy environment where mothers and babies can take retreat for a feeding or to express milk. Our mother's room is open to employees and students.

The associate dean’s suite is located on the second floor of the School of Nursing at the top of the stairs. Here our associate deans for undergraduate and graduate studies meet with faculty and students by appointment.

Our Dean’s suite is designed as an open pod of offices. There are no doors entering the lobby. Our front office executive staff is available to greet you and ready to assist you with a smile. The Dean’s suite is located on the second floor of the School of Nursing.

Wet Lab
The School of Nursing research facilities include a recently renovated, state-of-the-art student work area, bench laboratory, exercise physiology laboratory, and behavioral laboratory space with observation deck. The 865-square-foot bench lab space has expanded research capabilities. With a new Biosafety Level 2 fume hood ventilation system, as well as new metal lab case work and epoxy counter tops with double the amount of workspace. The lab features two under counter safety cabinets, two lab refrigerators and multiple freezers on generator back up, including three ultra-low temperature freezers. The 286-square-foot behavioral lab space has expanded video teleconferencing capability to support on-campus and virtual bio-behavior research. Attached to the behavioral lab is an observation deck with full data connectivity. The observation deck allows for discreet synchrony observation of live research. The 105-square-foot exercise physiology lab supports ongoing research and specimen collection.

Center for Simulation Innovation (CSI)
The CSI is a high-tech, hands-on experience for undergraduate nursing students. The CSI includes a 7,300-square-foot simulation hospital and a 6,500-square-foot skills laboratory. Here students are exposed to interprofessional education (IPE) simulations with the added benefit of working on high fidelity mannequins for a hands-on learning experience. Simulated learning experiences such as a poverty simulation and a dementia tour enable students to practice and gain skills specific to a variety of patient cases.

Wellness 360 (health care on-campus)
We offer comprehensive care for students, employees and local families at Íø±¬³Ô¹Ï. Our services include a wide array of health and wellness services such as primary care, acute care, immunization requirements, mental health, and women’s and men’s health. We see patients of all ages, adults and pediatrics. Same-day appointments are often available, and we are conveniently located on the first floor of the School of Nursing. Call us at 210-567-2788.
