Assistant Professor , has been selected to serve on the American Board of Physical Therapy Residency and Fellowship Education Onsite Review Team.

The opportunity to serve as part of the American Board of Physical Therapy Residency and Fellowship Education Onsite Review Team is the fulfillment of a goal long held by Belarmino. ABPTRFE is recognized by the American Physical Therapy Association as the agency for the accreditation of physical therapist residency and fellowship education programs.

Belarmino realized he wanted to be involved in the accreditation review of fellowship and residency programs while he was leading two such programs earlier in his career. He worked toward obtaining the experience needed in order to successfully apply to be part of the onsite review team.

"With this position, I can bring name recognition of the school to a national level as I am also representing the university and not just the ABPTRFE," he said. "I am also able to see what is going on in a national level when it comes to post-graduate training in the physical therapy world."

Belarmino said he encourages students to consider applying to residency and fellowship programs after they graduate to extend their education and advance their professional opportunities. His role with ABPTRFE will enable him to inform students of the contemporary practice of post-graduate training, he said.

"All in all, I hope that with my experience in this position, I can inspire our students to pursue post-graduate training for those who wish to," he said.

Belarmino will be providing an important service to the profession in his new role, said Department of Physical Therapy Chair and Associate Professor Bradley Tragord, PT, DPT, DSc.

“Being a residency program onsite reviewer is a critical role that contributes significantly to the quality and consistency of physical therapy education and our profession,” Tragord said. “Bobby is a fantastic asset to ABPTRFE. He will most certainly ensure that the highest program standards are met and that student outcomes are emphasized.”
