Physical Therapy professor starts rehabilitation research group
By Kate Hunger
Sandeep Subramanian, Ph.D., BPTh, physical therapy assistant professor, is hoping to spark collaboration on rehabilitation research within the School of Health Professions as well as among the School, the wider community of the Íø±¬³Ô¹Ï and other research institutions.
To that end, Dr. Subramanian is organizing the Rehabilitation Research Interest Group, which met for the first time in August. The group is open to faculty from all health and medical professions. Dr. Subramanian also invited faculty from other institutions, including the University of Texas at San Antonio and the University of Texas at Austin.
The group was inspired by the Clinically Applied Rehabilitation Engineering (CARE) Initiative at UT, he said.
"right now it would mean increased potential for collaboration for research" and publication, Dr. Subramanian explained of the group's purpose.
The group will also enable peer mentorship opportunities with senior researchers and will maximize resources to allow researchers from various disciplines and even different universities to work together to further their common research interests, he added.
The group will hold its next meeting in November in Austin.
